18:15 Debate
Chair: Emiliano Ippoliti (Sapienza University of Rome)
In this talk, Ekaterina Svetlova investigates the ethical dimensions of selling AI-based financial products, exemplified by the real-life Tyndaris case. She highlights the lack of attention to technology in sales ethics and asserts that this paper is the first to address the ethical challenges related to the sales of financial products based on advanced algorithms. Combining contributions from sales ethics and epistemic ethics, Ekaterina views the selling process of AI-based investment funds as a complex sales situation. Her view allows her to acknowledge the dynamic nature and incomplete knowledge of these products as central ethical challenges for the sales force. While considering the selling activity of AI-based investment funds as a complex, staggered process, in her talk, Ekaterina delineates the ethical obligations of salespersons at each stage of this process.
An open debate follows the meeting.
